…Chic Critique…

…Hello people from across the globe.  I need to apologize.  I haven’t been blogging all this rad stuff I’ve been taking pictures of.  Truth be told, it’s because I hate my blog.  It gives me the hives everytime I look at it.  So…I’ve put Jane Johnson on it.  I should have a new blog very soon.

In the meantime I am teaching 4 week critique class over on the Chic Critique Forum.  There are only 4 spots left so sign up today!

…still here…

…wow. The days just keep passing and I keep finding other things that HAVE to be done and my poor blog just keeps getting neglected.  I have so much swoon worthy-ness to show but just not the time to blog it. Perhaps I’ll find time this week…crossing fingers.  However, I have the Matilda Jane Fall shoot to edit along with a long list of portraits sessions, so…..

and may I just say that the MJC shoot was nothing short of AMAZING!  I love those ladies!! and the models were FANTABULOUS!!  Just wait till you see this line…CRAZY BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I will share more of this lovely lady and her new hubby soon too.

…influences…

I was out in the street playing kickball with Lukas tonight, and I did what I always do when a car comes down the street…I yelled “game off” and after it passed by I yelled again “game on”.  Now, I know my children have no idea why I do this…they’ve never seen Wayne’s World.  So it got me thinking about all the ridiculous things I do and say on a daily basis that must leave my children baffled.

maybe you do some of these too…(disclaimer-I am fully aware that this post in an indicator of my age)

On occasion I will point something at the sky and yell…”I have the power”…

I often relpy to requests with “as you wiiiissshhh”…

any chance I get to sing “hit me with your best shot” I take…

I can’t use the word “activities” with raising my hands and wanting to rearrange my room…

This is only a smidgen of the ridiculous “things” I do that my children will never understand…perhaps it will give them the confidence to be a little ridiculous too.  The world would be a bore without a few ridiculous people scattered about…

speaking of ridiculous…these next kidlets fit the bill….for ridiculously cute that is…;)

…Ideas…

…I do some of my best thinking in those moments after I’ve closed my eyes but haven’t yet fallen asleep.  My mind wanders aimlessly about without the confines that my eyes bring forth, and conjurs up some of the best solutions for all kinds of issues.  The problem is when I wake up I can’t seem to find those thoughts again. I can say that I do remember one from a long long while ago, and it hasn’t left my mind since.

My thoughts on Satisfaction.  It seems that we as humans are so driven by personal satisfaction.  We have to be satisfied and appeased at every turn.  If our food doesn’t taste right we demand a remake, if we aren’t greeted within moments of entering an establishement we are put out, if we have to WAIT on anything it should equal a discount.  Where do we get such a heightened scense of entitlement?  Don’t YOU know that this need for convenience will surely lead to our demise.  I do.

I think we should forge our way in terms of survival, if you will.  Enjoy life, but not at the expense of others.  Let Happiness be your motivator, not satisfaction.  There is a difference.

Care enough to be inconvenienced:

leave the trash in your car until you find a recyle bin.

car pool with someone at your work.  yes, you may have to adjust your schedule.

pack your child’s lunch with fresh items in reusable containers. ( I get ill thinking of all the trash we create from our convenient little prepackaged snacks, not to mention the unhealthy ingredients may of those contain)

make sure all the lights are off when they aren’t being used.

walk or ride a bike when you can.

have your kids ride the bus.  Why drive them when you have public transportation? Save that fuel and preserve the air we breathe.

For photographers, place your orders once a week, think of all the fuel and exhaust you can cut back on.

Gosh, there are so many things we CAN do.  We are supposed to be the smartest inhabitants on the planet, but we abuse it more than any other.  YOU have to CARE enough to make a difference.  YOU will be inconvenienced.  YOU will not like it most of the time.  YOU will survive.

My mind goes to that movie American Beauty.  I remember it had such a powerful message to me.  There is more to life than being satsified.  Life is worth the  inconvenience.  You never know when yours will be over.  Live it.  Live it so that others will be able to go on when yours is over.

I’m taking the vow to be Inconvenienced.  Will you take it with me? I implore you to pin this, put it on a t-shirt. Say it. Talk about it.BE IT.

Come on people, we can be better.

I won’t apologize for the heaviness of this blog post, but I will show you some very light-hearted happy photographs!

I started a facebook page if anyone wants to join.  I figured we could all share the things we do to be inconvenienced, to serve as inspiration/ideas for others.

You know I am a big hippie tree-hugger so I love this.

Also. Are my kids the only ones who aren’t all smiles when you bust out your camera? No. Fair.

…Happy Birthday Sweet Stella…

…6 years ago today the sweetest little lady came into my life.  She entered this world wide eyed and without a sound.

Unafraid. All knowing. Beautiful.

She hasn’t changed a bit.

…well maybe a little…

I love you sweet girl. May we celebrate a lifetime of birthdays together.
